In 2018/19, with the generous support of Arts Council England, NYX produced 4 new collaborative choral works for audiences to experience at deep listening Sunday events across London.

Over the series, NYX invited each collaborator to perform in a deep listening space, replacing digital instruments and field recordings with collective modulated or organic voice, improvising new material, interacting with original NYX compositions and together, creating a euphoric collective experience for audiences.

NYX and Scottish composer/producer Iona Fortune conducted a liminal ceremony, re-embodying digital instrumentation and live electronics on February 3rd 2019. Inspired by Eastern philosophy, Iona Fortune’s music is influenced by oriental sounds and features a palette of instruments that includes the Guzheng, Gamelan and EMS Synthi AKS. Employing an unusual composition technique that involves inner cultivation, one could say her sonic world exists somewhere out of the realm of the ordinary. Following recent commissions at Berlin’s Atonal Festival and Dark Mofo in Tasmania, Iona joined NYX to continue sonic exploration of the I Ching, its symbology, inherent energy & cosmological significance.

Following the London premiere, this project was performed on 31 March 2019 at Rewire Festival at Grote Kerk in The Hague, supporting Nicolás Jaar.
